The DevOps team is responsible for building and maintaining Clear Capital's AWS cloud infrastructure, which includes multi-tenant SaaS applications serving some of the largest financial institutions, data and analytics products, machine learning, and more. A Dev/Ops Engineer stands at the intersection of software development and system operations. By employing Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), the Dev/Ops Engineer can write software to automate the deployment, monitoring, management, and decommissioning of complete operating environments. They also take operational responsibility for those environments. A Lead DevOps Engineer can automate a broad range of systems, including operating systems, network infrastructure, security infrastructure, databases, application servers, and monitoring systems, and has deep technical expertise in multiple areas. Furthermore, they have demonstrated experience in complete system and software development lifecycles. This position will also mentor and guide more junior-level Engineers.
What You Will Work On
Participate in the day-to-day administration of AWS systems, including user provisioning/management and supporting internal AWS users
Design and manage monitoring systems for operating infrastructure (e.g., AWS CloudWatch, OpsGenie).
Support security audits of compliance with regulatory and contractual c.)
Participate in team sprint planning and stand-ups with the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgment that is consistent with company culture
Manage software deployment through various staged operating environments (e.g., Development, QA, Staging, Production).
Manage security and compliance infrastructure including AWS user management (IAM), two-factor authentication (e.g., Duo Security), centralized logging (e.g., ELK), and AWS security groups.
Deep technical expertise in the management and automation of multiple areas, such as operating systems, network infrastructure, security infrastructure, databases, application servers, and monitoring systems
The ability to design/architect solutions, leveraging available IaaS (Infrastructure-As-A-Service) components and other tools while working in tandem with other teams.
Assist with the prioritization of tasks, understanding the team’s current goals, and assigning or reassigning work based on the urgency of new requests and their impact to the business
Who We Are Looking For
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
12+ years SWE exp; software development experience a plus
7+ years of experience in a combination of software development and technical operations support (ideally a bit of both), with a strong emphasis on Devops.
Scripting experience with a scripting language like Shell, Python, etc.
Expertise using AWS foundational services, such as EC2, ELB, VPC/Networking, S3, SQS, SNS
Proficiency with additional AWS services, such as DynamoDB, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, Redshift, Kinesis
Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes
Experience using configuration management tooling, such as Chef, Ansible, Puppet, etc.
Experience with Security infrastructure management (e.g., encryption, two-factor authentication, auditing and compliance controls)
Monitoring systems experience
Experience with version control software, such as git, as well as branching strategies
Automate and manage AWS-based infrastructure using tooling such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
Configure and manage Kubernetes clusters (EKS, standalone).
