Note: This position supports US Federal customers. Requires ServiceNow background screening, USFedPASS (US Federal Personnel Authorization Screening Standards). Includes credit check, criminal/misdemeanor check, and drug test. Employment contingent upon passing screening. Role Summary: Senior Linux System Admin to support on-premises customers. Key member of the Cloud Ops engineering team, responsible for supporting infrastructure needs to build/manage environments for ServiceNow products.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in delivering/promoting end-to-end solution architecture roadmaps.
- Collaborate with development, infrastructure, test, and production support teams.
- Support built systems, web services, and automation tools.
- Design solutions for replication, sharding, and performance optimization.
- Recommend code tuning/optimizations.
- Design scalable software and database architecture.
- Research and implement new tools/technologies.
Qualifications:
- Strong background in systems architecture and engineering.
- Understanding of software infrastructure components (hardware, OS, virtualization, application, database, web, application servers).
- Prior experience in software development/engineering, release management, and managing large-scale server infrastructure is desirable.
- Strong Linux expertise is required.
- Minimum Experience: 4+ years building/maintaining Linux systems; 4+ years with Relational Database technologies (Postgres, MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle).
- Strong problem-solving, leadership, time management, and critical thinking skills.
- Self-motivated and accountable.
- Strong experience with database/system performance analysis, capacity sizing, and optimization.
- In-depth understanding of public/private cloud technologies (data centers, systems, networks, web applications, relational databases).
- Familiarity with networking/storage concepts (routing, IP networking, DNS, load balancers, block/file storage).
- Comfortable designing, authoring, testing, and debugging code (Bash, Python, Ruby, Perl).
- Solid understanding of database replication/high availability, storage engines, system performance, and benchmarking.
- Familiarity with virtualization and cloud infrastructure technologies.
- Excellent communication skills and collaborative team environment.
- Education: CS/EE degree with 6+ years of related experience is required.
Compensation: Base pay $123,300 - $209,700 + equity/variable/incentive compensation + benefits.
