Job Details

Overview: At Expert Institute, we are seeking a highly-skilled and detail-oriented Legal Nurse Consultant to join our collaborative and dynamic Medical Research team. This professional will play a vital role in supporting trial attorneys in high-stakes litigation by bridging the gap between medicine and law. With a focus on precision and expertise, the Legal Nurse Consultant will leverage clinical knowledge to analyze medical cases, evaluate standards of care, create synopsis of medical records and connect attorneys with the most qualified expert witnesses.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Case Analysis and Support: Analyze medical records to identify key facts and evaluate their significance. Provide detailed case assessments, highlighting potential deviations from standards of care. Create chronologies of medical events and assess their relevance to liability, causation, and damages. You may, at times, have to verbally walk legal staff through the results.
  2. Educate attorneys on medical terminology, treatment protocols, and industry standards.
  3. Expert Matching and Collaboration: Leverage clinical knowledge to identify and match attorneys with the most suitable expert witnesses for their cases, and facilitate communication and collaboration to align on goals and determine the most effective strategy for their achievement.
  4. Research and Reporting: Conduct in-depth research on medical topics to support case evaluations. Prepare clear and concise reports, presenting key findings and insights into complex medical issues to share digitally (and, at times, verbally) with law firm staff.
  5. Team Collaboration: Work closely with a high-performing team of doctors, nurses, and researchers in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Contribute to process improvements, ensuring the delivery of exceptional service to clients. Our best products and services are built off of collaborative feedback. Act as a liaison between prospective clients and the sales team, working closely with both to communicate directly and show the depth of our legal nursing capabilities.

Experience & Education:

  • Active RN license with a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience.
  • Previous experience as a Legal Nurse Consultant specializing in pre-litigation and pre-trial services is highly preferred but not required.
  • Academic teaching experience is highly preferential (comfortable teaching lawyers).
  • Strengths in forensic medicine, medical malpractice merit analysis, and standard of care evaluations backed by training in advanced data analytics.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and organize complex medical data.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with attorneys and expert witnesses. Comfortable communicating with all personality types.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities to manage multiple cases simultaneously, and to own and manage the process flows internally and externally.
  • Proven proficiency in medical record review and documentation.

Mindset & Attributes:

  • Collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • A strong work ethic and proactive approach to problem-solving is a must.
  • Passion for using clinical expertise to make a meaningful impact in the legal field.

What We Offer:

  • Be part of a growing company that remains dedicated to redefining how attorneys connect with expert witnesses to win high-stakes cases.
  • Work on exciting and impactful cases, including those involving major brands and high-profile litigation. No two days look alike and neither do two cases.
  • Collaborate with a passionate and talented team that values innovation and precision.
  • Make a tangible impact on our clients by delivering exceptional insights and expertise.
  • All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
