What Does a Media Director Do?
The Media Director is a seasoned leader providing strategic guidance and oversight of daily media operations. This role manages media planning and buying, and serves as the client's point of contact. The Media Director trains, manages, and develops a team within a specific portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Lead media efforts for one oncology business portfolio.
- Develop strategic media programs for DTC and HCP campaigns.
- Deep understanding of client operations, goals, and challenges.
- Apply media knowledge to solve business problems and drive ROI.
- Mobilize teams for initiatives and work streams.
- Collaborate with senior SMEs and Account teams.
- Oversee client communication and high-profile vendor relationships/negotiations.
- Identify organic growth opportunities.
- Manage financial aspects and team planning.
- Mentor and develop direct reports.
- Manage campaign timelines and deadlines.
- Address issues related to team structure and resources.
- Serve as a point of escalation for the team.
- Manage team billability.
- Lead new business opportunities.
- Stay updated on media industry trends and technologies.
- Prepare internal reports and case studies.
- Manage up effectively to VP.
What We're Looking For:
- Strong media acumen across paid media channels.
- 10+ years of media account management experience.
- Expertise in digital and non-digital media, HCP, and DTC audiences.
- Client-facing role as main media resource.
- Financial and staff planning experience.
- Media campaign analysis and optimization skills.
- Excellent communication (written and oral).
- Staff management expertise.
- Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
- Ability to explain complex media ideas.
- Cross-channel media strategy, planning, and buying experience.
