Medical Director (Part Time Remote Role)
This Position is Contingent Upon Award of the Contract.
The Medical Director is responsible for medical oversight, direction, and leadership of the medical staff regarding all areas of healthcare for the project. The Medical Director scope of work is to provide direct support to WASS AAR in completing the contract requirements supporting INL/A mission’s CONUS and OCONUS.
- Oversight of the Flight Medics program
- Flight crewmember’s aviation medicine
- Aeromedical evacuation
- Establishment of new INL/A mission locations
- Coordination with regional RMOs
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled OCONUS medical surveys and site medical assessments (often in austere and difficult environments) and present findings and recommendations.
- Ensure adequate medical services and response capabilities are available at all OCONUS locations.
- Author and approve of all medical protocols that authorize AAR WASS Flight Medics to work without direct medical supervision.
- Support the planning and execution of fixed or rotary wing aeromedical evacuation, Flight Medic support, or other more general medical services at assigned and other locations.
- Oversee aeromedical emergency medical equipment, emergency medications, and consumable supplies.
- Contribute to the development of budgetary estimates, CONOPS, plans and directives.
- Maintain controlled substances IAW federal Controlled Substance Act.
- Provide availability for program personnel to speak with a medical doctor in case of an emergency.
- Act as an advisor for Human Resources, attending physicians and/or Aviation Medical Examiner (AME).
- Responsible for collaboration and approvals between WASS AAR, local medical professionals, Regional Medical Officers (RMO), and the US Embassy.
- Adhere to and support the AAR Quality Assurance Program.
- Support meetings, reviews, and conferences.
- Notify the AAR representative and PMO Safety Office of incidents involving fatality, serious injury, safety of flight, or structural damage to aircraft within 2 hours.
- Hold and maintain current DEA registration number to procure controlled substances.
Basic Requirements/Certifications:
- Hold and maintain a full unrestricted U.S. Medical Licensure.
- Hold and maintain current DEA registration number.
- 10 years of clinical experience in Western standards of medical and health care.
- Experience as a Military Flight Surgeon.
- Demonstrated experience in executive-level interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of advanced trauma care, cardiology, advanced diagnosis and treatment of illnesses, radiological (basic) analysis, and body recovery procedures.
- Working knowledge of establishing and maintaining sanitary requirements.
Education Required:
- Graduate from an approved medical school with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.).
Physical Requirements:
- Meet pre-deployment physical requirements
- Sitting and standing for prolonged periods.
- Bending, stooping and lifting up to 25 lbs.
Other Special Qualifications:
- Valid US Passport
- Active DoD Secret Clearance
- May deploy to austere environments for up to 90 days.
Pay range:
Based on several factors and may vary. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits are available. The final salary will be determined by the applicant.
Compensation: $150,000 - $400,000
