Job Details

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Regional Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to join our dynamic team.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about bringing life-changing therapies to Canadians living with rare diseases.

The Regional MSL is a key conduit of information between internal and external stakeholders. Adhering to the highest standards of integrity, the Regional MSL is an integral part of the Sobi Canada team and Sobi NA Medical Affairs.

The individual will work closely with the Field Medical Lead to achieve the objectives of Sobi NA Medical affairs.

The candidate should have an entrepreneurial mindset, a strong ability to interpret and effectively communicate scientific information, the ability to identify and establish meaningful peer-to-peer relationships with physicians and care teams and through compliant interactions, meet HCP needs for objective, fair, and balanced information about Sobi drugs and respond to questions about Sobi clinical trials.

The candidate should also understand the value that the MSL role brings to an organization, be able to collaborate cross-functionally in a compliant manner, be solution-oriented, and possess strong analytical, strategic thinking skills and business acumen.

Regional role: the Regional MSL will regularly travel throughout territory (estimated 60%, local conditions permitting), hold a valid Canadian driver’s license, and will occasionally attend Sobi NA meetings and Scientific Congresses elsewhere in Canada and in the U.S.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Passion for Rare Diseases: Demonstrate a deep passion for improving the lives of Canadians living with rare diseases. You should be driven by the opportunity to bring life-changing therapies to these individuals and their families.
  2. Maintain Expertise: Maintain a high level of expertise in Sobi Canada’s Therapeutic portfolio. Including, but not limited to, hematology, inflammation, rheumatology, immunology, and oncology.
  3. Entrepreneurial Mindset: Demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit by identifying opportunities, taking initiative, and driving projects to completion. Plan, support, and execute regional roundtables, advisory boards, and related activities.
  4. Travel: Ability and willingness to travel as needed, conditions permitting (estimated 60%).
  5. Interpretation and Communication: Understand complex scientific concepts and translate them into clear, understandable language for diverse audiences from both literature and scientific congress attendance. Engage in scientific discussions with medical professionals, fostering an environment of mutual respect and open dialogue.
  6. Peer-to-Peer Relationships: Excel at identifying and establishing meaningful peer-to-peer relationships with physicians. Foster an environment of mutual respect and open dialogue and engage in scientific discussions that lead to the advancement of our Medical Affairs objectives.
  7. Collaboration: Effectively and compliantly partner with cross-functional colleagues. Work in a team environment, collaborating with various departments such as Sales, Market Access, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs and R&D. Participate in Medical Affairs weekly calls, trainings, and meetings.
  8. Solution-Oriented: Demonstrate a problem-solving mindset. Your approach to challenges should be positive and constructive, focusing on how obstacles can be overcome rather than dwelling on the problem.
  9. Analytical & Strategic Thinking: Demonstrate strong analytical and strategic thinking skills. You should have the ability to dissect complex problems, extract key insights, and develop strategic plans based on your findings.
  10. Business Acumen: Possess a strong business acumen. Understand how various parts of the business interconnect and how decisions in one area impact outcomes in others. Balance short-term needs with long-term goals, always keeping Sobi’s values of Care, Ownership, Urgency, Partnership and Ambition in mind.
