Full-Time Patient Access Specialist (Remote)

The Patient Access Specialist reflects the mission, vision, and values of NMHC.

Responsibilities:

• Practices Patients First philosophy and adheres to high standards of customer service.
• Responds to questions and concerns.
• Maintains patient confidentiality per HIPAA regulations.
• Provides customer service to establish a positive first impression.
• Correctly identifies and collects patient demographic information.
• Schedules appointments and directs patients.
• Performs medical necessity checks and communicates options.
• Completes out-of-pocket estimations.
• Manages work schedule efficiently.
• Participates in Quality Assurance reviews.
• Uses effective service recovery skills.
• Adheres to department policies and compliance requirements.

Communication and Collaboration:

• Communicates information about physician referrals and insurance.
• Demonstrates teamwork and communicates effectively.

Technology:

• Utilizes online systems to verify patient orders and insurance eligibility.
• Completes accurate handoff instructions in Epic.

Efficiency, Process Improvement, and Business Growth:

• Proactive in preventing issues with patient visits.
• Understands data requirements for registration.
• Evaluates procedures and suggests improvements.
• Acts as a training resource for new staff.

Required:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2-3 years customer service or medical office experience.
• Excellent communication skills and computer proficiency.
• Ability to type 40 wpm and multi-task.
