We are looking for a skilled and committed Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic team. As the Payroll Specialist, you will have a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for our clients. We require someone who is detail-oriented, professional, proactive, and preference will be given to those with experience in Canadian payroll processing.
In this position, you will be responsible for processing payroll and accounts payable for a diverse group of clients. You will handle all aspects of payroll administration, including calculating wages, reviewing time sheets, and ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations. Additionally, you will administer accounts payable processes, ensuring invoices are accurately processed and payments are made on time while adhering to established financial guidelines.
As a tech-savvy professional, you will use our cloud-based payroll systems to streamline processes, identify discrepancies, and provide insights to clients. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and contribute to AMLB’s overall growth. Core Responsibilities:
- Payroll Administration: Use cloud-based payroll software to prepare and maintain payroll records for clients, including related government remittances and filings. Process new hires, salary changes, terminations (ROEs), EHT, WSIB, RRSP, and other payroll-related items in an accurate and timely manner.
- Calculate and process taxable benefits, statutory holiday pay, commissions and other related complex payroll transactions accurately. Process bi-weekly, semi-monthly and monthly payrolls for multiple clients. Assist with CRA queries, government registrations and other related matters around payroll. Assist with year-end reconciliations along with preparation and submission of year-end information slips, such as T4, T4A, T5, T3, T5018, etc. to CRA
- Technology and Timely Communication: Utilize cloud-based software such as WagePoint and Karbon, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to payroll standards. Leverage technology, automation, reporting and timely communication to address issues and questions regarding payroll from clients. Calculate and verify earnings and process appropriate deductions and withholdings in online payroll applications.
- Proactive Risk Management: Proactively identify and address risks and issues related to service timeliness and quality for assigned clients. Take necessary actions to mitigate risks and ensure client satisfaction. Maintain regular communication and collaboration with Cloud Accountants and clients to ensure a seamless client experience.
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with Payroll Lead and Cloud Finance Services Team to enhance key processes by creating training videos and step-by-step procedures. Promote sustainability and effectiveness by identifying pain points, analyzing root causes, and implementing sustainable changes. Create and improve standardized payroll processes and develop internal documentation and training Assist the Cloud Accountants with payroll-related questions.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Minimum of five years of full-cycle payroll experience in a fast-paced environment, including at least 2 years experience in international payroll from at least one of the following countries: Canada, US, UK, Australia & New Zealand
- Strong understanding of payroll concepts, software, and systems with experience processing payroll for a diverse workforce
- Canadian Payroll experience an asset
- Exceptional accuracy, meticulous record-keeping, and ability to resolve discrepancies effectively
- Comfortable with new technology and specific experience with payroll software, cloud-based systems, and leveraging technology for process improvement
- Customer focus and establishing credibility and trust to build long-term relationships are critical.
- Strong ability to review and analyze payroll data, conduct audits, and reconcile discrepancies.
- Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality in handling sensitive employee data
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to engage and collaborate with different internal and external stakeholders
