Job Details
As a People Operations Manager, you’ll ensure that all people operations for our team in North America run smoothly - from onboarding to offboarding and everything in between. You’re the beating heart of the People team, approachable and responsive to any questions from our Overstory team in your geography. You’re able to smoothly navigate local complexities while making the overall experience feel like Overstory.
You’ll work hands-on delivering excellent day-to-day operations, guide managers with people-related questions and drive improvements to make us ready to scale as we enter a new phase of growth. You’ll be part of a small but mighty People team, working closely with the Head of People. Together, we nurture a culture where everyone can be their best selves.
What you’ll do
- Run onboarding for new team members from start to finish. You’ll make them feel at home from the minute they join
- Support managers and the wider Overstory team with questions on people policies or processes
- Draft offer letters and agreements
- Ensure our people operations are compliant with local labor laws
- Draft board and leadership reporting with people team updates, metrics, and visuals
- Coordinate recruitment for hiring managers, from posting the job, to keeping the candidate pipeline neat and tidy, to scheduling team interviews. You’ll work closely with our technical recruiter to maximise alignment with our recruitment strategy and approach.
- Handle benefits and leave administration for our North American team. A big part of that will be running the yearly health benefits enrollments in the US, and keeping the related administration tidy throughout the year.
- Run ad-hoc projects in collaboration with the Head of People
About you
- You have 5+ years of experience as an HR Generalist, HR Manager or similar role, involved in all aspects of HR
- You are familiar with local labor laws in the US
- You’ve worked in early-stage start-ups and love that fast-paced environment. You’re comfortable with the ambiguity that comes with working at a startup and you don’t need to have everything well defined before you act
- You have great judgement, you know how to balance quality and speed, and combine a business mindset with human touch
- You have exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English
- You know how to leverage AI to make everyone around you more efficient
- You’re passionate about our climate mission
- You’re based in the US, in the ET time zone
What you get
- To be part of truly mission-driven work that reduces wildfires, protects earth’s natural resources and helps solve our climate crisis.
- Flexible working environment with a lot of autonomy. We build our work days around our lives, not the other way around.
- Other benefits like a remote working budget, an educational budget and time to develop new skills.
- To be surrounded by an excellent, vibrant, smart team who have each other's back and believe in a culture of openness, tolerance and respect.
- Equity and a competitive salary.
