At Timescale, we empower businesses with real-time insights from their data, allowing them to make faster decisions and optimize operations. We are creating a movement to unblock developers who are building the future. Timescale is a product-led growth organization driven by transparent leaders and a globally diverse, remote-first team that is proudly building a modern PostgreSQL cloud platform.
As a People Partner (contract - maternity leave cover) at Timescale đŻ, youâll be a key member of our small but mighty People Operations team.
As our People Operations Partner, you will be a trusted advisor to managers and team members.
We're looking for an exceptional People Operations Partner to support our international team. Youâll need to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, navigating ambiguity, change, and complexity with confidence.
At our core, we have a Get Sh*t Done mentalityârolling up our sleeves and diving into challenging tasks is second nature. We donât wait for direction; we take initiative, act swiftly, and prioritize results over excuses.
In our team, every role matters, and every individual plays a vital part in driving our mission forward.
This role will be a 5-month contract to cover a member of the team going on maternity leave. The ideal start date would be September 2nd, 2025. There is potential for a full-time offer at the end of the contract, depending on business needs.
We treat our People practices like living systems: we pilot new ideas, listen actively, measure what works, and refine continuously.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working iteratively, values experimentation, and sees feedback as fuel for improvement.
đ This role is remote. We are open to candidates based in the United States (with a preference for the East Coast time zone), Spain, or Ireland.
Fluency in English is required.
What you will be responsible for:
- People Operations:
- Lead a seamless onboarding experience for new hires from pre-boarding through their first 90 days.
- Provide day-to-day HR support to employees and managersâresponding to questions, resolving concerns, and navigating policies with empathy and accuracy.
- Own and evolve key lifecycle processes, such as onboarding, offboarding, mobility, and internal transitions, always testing improvements, and monitoring impact.
- Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with local labor laws.
- Partner with the VP of People to support global benefits administration and systems optimization.
đ§ People Partnering
- Collaborate with managers to drive engagement, retention, and performance within their teams.
- Use insights from engagement surveys, check-ins, and feedback loops to inform actions and drive continuous improvement.
- Support managers in identifying and closing skill and talent gaps, and in building development plans.
- Guide managers through employee relations issues with a balance of empathy and accountability.
- Help embed a feedback-rich culture that promotes learning, adaptation, and resilience.
đ Strategic Projects
- Own and deliver small to mid-sized cross-functional projectsâwhether a new process rollout or refining a legacy systemâwith curiosity and rigor.
- Contribute to programs that strengthen our culture, DEI, performance management, and career development practices.
- Take an iterative approach to building and refining People programs, focusing on outcomes over perfection.
This role will also include other responsibilities and ad hoc tasks as needed. We're a growing company, and we value flexibility and a proactive attitude toward evolving priorities.
You could be a great fit if you:
- Have 4+ years of experience in people operations, HR generalist, or people partner roles in high-growth, international, or remote-first companies.
- Are known for being hands-on, responsive, and deeply empathetic.
- Are comfortable working independently while partnering closely with colleagues across functions and time zones.
- Can zoom in to triage a Slack question one moment and zoom out to analyze engagement survey trends the next.
- Have strong judgment in handling confidential and sensitive matters.
- Thrive in ambiguity and are energized by turning chaos into clarity.
- Bring a thoughtful, test-and-learn mindset to your work, always looking to improve what you build.
You might not be a great fit if:
- You need a lot of direction or struggle to take initiative in ambiguous situations.
- You prefer a highly structured environment with rigid processes already in place.
- Youâre most comfortable in black-and-white scenarios and find it challenging to navigate grey areas or evolving policies.
- You prefer to stay behind the scenes. This is a collaborative, high-visibility role with frequent interaction with teams and stakeholders.
If you're excited to join a growing startup where learning is continuous, challenges are shared, and your voice helps shape the future of our People organisation as we scale, weâd love to hear from you.
