Global Antibiotic Research and Development Partnership (GARDP) is a not-for-profit R&D organization accelerating development of new antibiotic treatments for drug-resistant infections. GARDP works with partners to ensure sustainable access and affordability to all in need.
Overall Purpose: The Policy Advocacy Manager develops and implements advocacy strategies, conducts research and analysis, creates policy content and tools, supports colleagues in regional policy advocacy, and provides strategic administrative support.
Contribution: Manages specific projects (regional initiatives, workshops, conferences, policy papers), delivers quality outputs through expert services, and adapts policies to emerging needs.
Scope of Work (Results): Services affect systems, processes, and teams regarding research, development, access, public health priorities, and populations served by GARDP.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Conceptualize and organize GARDP convenings for key priorities.
- Conduct research, analysis (policy landscape, stakeholder mapping, lessons learned), and develop policy advocacy content (white papers, policy briefs).
- Contribute to technical analysis of policies/practices impacting antibiotic research, development, and access, and propose influential actions.
- Coordinate advocacy activities engaging stakeholders and influencing policy discussions.
- Represent GARDP at AMR conferences/events.
- Provide matrix support to colleagues in South Asia, Latin America, Europe, and Southern Africa.
- Support External Relations team (donors, governments, institutions, companies).
- Collaborate with Communications team to develop/disseminate policy positions (opinion pieces, blogs).
- Contribute to internal knowledge and ability of colleagues to represent policy positions.
- Provide project management support to the Deputy Executive Director.
- Organize internal policy advocacy discussions and provide summaries.
Reporting Line: Reports to the Deputy Executive Director and secondary reporting to the Head of Office (India, Southern Africa, or Thailand/Malaysia) and the Director of External Relations.
Interactions: Works with External Relations, Communications, Regional Offices, and the Executive Office; partners with civil society groups, think tanks, government representatives, multilateral agencies, and policy leads.
Skills and Attributes: Strong writing, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills; ability to work well under pressure and multitask; experience working in a multicultural team and using AI tools.
Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience with graduate degree, or at least 1 year with post-graduate degree. Proven ability to work in team and matrix structures. Experience in international/multicultural organizations is desirable.
Education: Graduate or post-graduate degree.
Other Requirements: Fluency in English, proficiency in other languages desirable, good knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
