We are seeking a qualified Safety & Health Officer (SHO) to join our team.
This position requires a dedicated, full-time individual to ensure the safety and health of our workforce in compliance with EM 385-1-1 and other federal, state, and local regulations.
The SHO will oversee risk assessments, incident investigations, safety training, emergency response planning, inspections, and regulatory compliance. They will help develop and provide oversight of Site Safety Health Officers (SSHO) who must be on-site during all work activities as warranted and will collaborate with project managers, contractors, and regulatory authorities to maintain a safe work environment.

Responsibilities:
- Ensure safety and health policies align with regulations (including EM 385-1-1).
- Maintain full-time SHO position with no conflicting responsibilities.
- Ensure SSHO on-site during all work.
- Report to senior project or corporate officials.
- Conduct regular inspections of job sites, equipment, and materials.
- Ensure worker safety indoctrination, meetings, and training.
- Ensure compliance with EM 385-1-1 requirements.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and hazard analysis.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Ensure SSHO training (40-hour initial, 8-hour annual refresher).
- Lead investigations into accidents and near-misses.
- Ensure incident documentation and corrective actions.
- Work with teams to develop Accident Prevention Plans.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs.
- Maintain training records and safety documentation.
- Oversee emergency response plans and drills.
- Ensure clear communication channels for reporting incidents.
- Conduct frequent inspections of work sites.
- Implement corrective actions for safety violations.
- Inspect office facilities.
- Maintain detailed records of safety activities.
- Ensure compliance with documentation requirements for audits, risk assessments, and investigations.
- Keep records of PPE usage, safety training, and safety equipment.
- Promote a culture of safety through collaboration with employees and management.
- Ensure worker hazard identification and mitigation awareness.
- Collaborate with vendors and contractors on safety standards.
- Ensure contractor safety training and familiarity with site hazards.
- Prepare safety and health reports for regulatory authorities.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Health & Safety Management, or related field.
- Relevant certifications (CSP, CIH, CHMM) are a plus.
- Security clearances may be required.
- Minimum five years of construction industry safety experience, or three years with CSP or safety degree.
- Completion of 40-hour EM 385-1-1 training course and annual 8-hour refresher.
- Completion of 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety class or equivalent.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Full-time on-site presence during all work.
- Proven experience in developing, implementing, and enforcing safety programs.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- United States Citizenship
- Active Driver’s License
Salary Range: $120,000-$135,000
Travel: Up to 50% travel nationally and internationally.
