Position Summary
As a Senior DevOps Architect at Effectual, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and optimizing our DevOps practices. You will be responsible for architecting and securing Kubernetes clusters and its ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of both DevOps and security principles to integrate them seamlessly. You will report to the Sr. Director App Modernization Practice.
Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Meet with a customer or internal team member to troubleshoot, educate, and unblock implementation progress.
- Partner with an Engagement Manager to craft a customer communication.
- Gather requirements, document current state, and educate customers on your solution approach.
- Jump on a pre-sales call to demonstrate Effectual's expertise to a potential customer.
- Conduct cost-benefit and risk-reward analyses
- Be accountable for the overall technical success of client projects
- Work with technology management to refine project management processes to improve technical delivery efficacy.
Architecture and Design
- Develop and maintain DevOps architectural standards and best practices
- Develop and maintain architectural standards and best practices and its components across diverse infrastructures
- Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code using tools like Terraform, Helm, and GitOps workflows
- Design and implement secure, automated, and scalable CI/CD pipelines
- Design and document a system in AWS to meet customer requirements
Kubernetes Expertise
- Design and architect enterprise-grade Kubernetes clusters hosted in various environments including AWS and on-prem
- Configure and optimize Kubernetes addons to extend platform capabilities and securely integrate with external systems such as auto-scaling, load balancing, service meshes and observability solutions
- Enforce RBAC, network policies and other guardrails for cluster security in multi-tenant environment
- Provide expertise in troubleshooting and resolving issues in a Kubernetes platform and hosted applications
- Evangelize Kubernetes best practices and drive adoption within the organization
Security Integration
- Lead the integration of security practices into the DevOps process, including code scanning, vulnerability assessments, and security testing
- Collaborate with security teams to implement and enforce security controls throughout the development lifecycle
Toolchain Management
- Evaluate, select, and implement DevOps tools and technologies that align with organizational goals
- Optimize existing toolchains for improved efficiency and security
Automation and Orchestration
- Implement automation scripts and tools for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment
- Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) templates for cloud and on-premises environments.
Monitoring and Performance Optimization
- Establish monitoring and alerting systems for both security and performance metrics.
- Continuously optimize infrastructure and applications for improved efficiency and reliability.
Collaboration and Training
- Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Provide training and mentorship to team members on DevOps best practices.
Qualifications
- 7+ years professional experience in a DevOps role
- 3+ years professional experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestrators.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent years experience.
- Proven experience in DevOps, security, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Strong expertise in CI/CD pipeline design and implementation (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, etc.)
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell, PowerShell)
- Mastery of containerization and orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
Location: Remote
Salary Range: $140,000-$175,000
