Position Summary
The Senior Director, Individual Givings manages a small portfolio of major donors and is responsible for the strategic direction and management of giving from individuals at all levels. This person will implement long and short-term fundraising strategies to expand our base of individual donors, determining and meeting annual revenue goals. They work closely with other members of the development leadership team and will supervise a growing team.
This position requires an individual who enjoys and is highly skilled in qualifying, cultivating, and soliciting high net worth individuals and coaching gift officers to exceed personal and team metrics. This is a headquarters position based remotely from any location in the U.S.
Essential Functions
- Portfolio Management: Develops and executes strategies for a targeted portfolio of ~75 prospects and donors.
- Team Leadership: Manages and mentors a team encompassing major gifts, leadership gifts, and direct marketing to meet annual goals.
- Strategy Development: Creates and implements annual and multi-year major and leadership gifts plan including pipeline development, annual engagement strategy, frontline messaging strategy, and portfolio development.
- Cross-team Collaboration: Collaborates with colleagues to formulate strategies to promote prospect engagement, to identify prospective donors, and to build collateral materials to support frontline outreach work.
- Undergraduate degree required.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive responsibility in fundraising, with a track record of closing major gifts.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience managing a team.
- Proven track record in development for a large nonprofit, including success in attracting six-figure gifts.
- Strong capacity for strategic thinking and ability to integrate a high-level vision with a tactical execution and resourcing plan.
- Effectiveness in managing and coaching remote teams, building positive, results-oriented culture; and creates structure to support high-level performance of a diverse and growing team guided by principles of fairness and equity.
