Reporting to the Head of Tax and Payroll, the Senior Payroll Specialist ensures that this process runs smoothly and is completed with a high level of accuracy, while ensuring compliance with the relevant tax and employment laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing:Ensure the accurate and timely processing and reconciliation of employee timesheets and salaries. Ensure all payroll adjustments and changes are processed on time and accurately, minimising backpay and corrections.
- Compliance and Reporting: Assist in the preparation of State and Federal tax obligations including, PAYG Withholding, Payroll tax, Workcover and Superannuation Guarantee contributions. Ensure timely and accurate submission of tax reporting to the ATO.
- Payroll Enquiries:Address general payroll inquiries, providing guidance on pay interpretation and procedures, proactively improving existing processes where necessary.
You will have:
- Proven experience in managing payroll processes for a large and diverse workforce (ideally 500+ employees).
- In-depth knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and a solid understanding of multiple awards and enterprise agreements.
- Strong technical understanding & experience using Employment Hero.
- Excellent attention to detail and proactive problem-solving skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
