About the Team:
The Payroll Engine team owns systems for calculating paychecks, handling tax calculation, payments, filings, and compliance for over 400,000 businesses.
The team focuses on strengthening system extensibility, improving observability, and enabling other Gusto teams to work faster and more reliably.
Here's what you'll do
- Lead strategy, roadmap, and execution for core payroll systems
- Drive platform improvements in extensibility, observability, and developer experience
- Bring clarity to complex problems
- Collaborate with Engineering, Compliance, Design, Data Science, CX, Legal, and Operations
- Champion platform adoption
- Tie platform investments to customer outcomes
- Advocate for quality, scalability, and flexibility
Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of product management experience
- Ownership of platform or infrastructure systems
- Proven track record of shipping high-scale products
- Strong systems thinking
- Experience in regulated domains (fintech, payroll, HR)
Compensation
Targeted salary: $153,000 - $207,000/yr (Denver & most metro areas), $186,000 - $230,000/yr (San Francisco, New York, Seattle)
