About Vida: We help people get better and improve the healthcare system. We are a virtual, personalized obesity care provider using evidence-based treatment for patients with obesity and related conditions (diabetes, high blood pressure, anxiety, depression).
Responsibilities (80%):
- Provide direct patient care, support treatment plans, prescribe medications, and monitor patient progress following statutes, regulations, and protocols.
- Order, interpret, and explain lab test results.
- Educate patients on medications, risks, benefits, and expected outcomes.
- Communicate with patients and perform necessary follow-up.
- Refer high-acuity patients to specialized care using a stringent guideline.
- Maintain medical records and ensure quality clinical documentation.
- Provide empathetic and non-judgmental care, including patient education, medication management, and prescribing.
- Cover critical outreach shifts (up to 3 days/week), including weekend shifts (2 hours) and some 1-hour shifts (7 AM or 7 PM).
- Reach out to members identified by remote monitoring protocols and, if needed, prescribe rescue medications or direct patients to community medicine/emergency services.
Responsibilities (20%):
- Provide training, clinical oversight, and mentorship to NPs, PAs, and/or MAs.
- Support the interviewing and hiring of new clinical staff.
- Develop and deliver training materials.
- Shadow front-line staff, providing clinical feedback.
- Conduct clinical audits and meet with staff as per regulatory guidance.
- Provide real-time mentorship and answer questions from clinical staff during working hours.
- Ensure compliance with Vida and client protocols and programs.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO with an active, unrestricted license in 15-20+ states.
- Board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine preferred; other specialties considered with a preference for those with full Internal Medicine residency.
- Board certification in obesity management from the American Board of Obesity Medicine (to be obtained at company expense).
- Availability for at least three critical outreach shifts per week (weekends, early mornings, or evenings).
- Experience supervising and mentoring clinical staff.
- Experience treating CHF, COPD, Diabetes, and/or Obesity preferred.
- Experience working with patients, clients, and other clinical providers in an integrated setting.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Previous experience with quality assurance and improvement practices preferred.
- Experience with digital technology.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and accountability for specific goals/objectives.
- Strong problem-solving, leadership, conflict management, and team-building skills.
- Strong aptitude for a rapidly changing, start-up environment.
- Proficiency with EMR (electronic medical record) systems.
