About the Role: The Director of State Government Affairs will serve as a member of the company’s Public Affairs team, reporting to the Senior Director of U.S. Government Affairs. Working closely with key internal partners, this position will provide government affairs support and drive state policy objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
- Direct and organize lobbying team(s) to advance legislative and regulatory objectives and protect company's interests.
- Prepare presentations, testimony, and materials for decision-makers.
- Manage state and national organizations and associations.
- Represent the company before legislative and regulatory bodies.
- Develop industry-wide coalitions and manage campaigns (if necessary).
- Develop action plans to mitigate negative impact or facilitate positive policy change.
- Provide analysis and insights regarding projects and initiatives.
- Analyze and assess state and local policies and trends.
- Monitor activities of assigned state branches and legislatures.
- Work with internal partners (Commercial, Medical Affairs, etc.) to achieve business goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree a plus.
- 10+ years of government and/or political affairs experience.
- Political campaign experience.
- Experience working in public affairs roles.
- Experience in a government setting, trade association, or corporate multi-state environment.
- State government affairs experience with TX, GA, FL, NC, or CA a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to convey complex information clearly and succinctly.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
Travel: 30-40% (3-4 times per month during peak legislative session).
Salary Range: $180,000 - $243,000 (Full-time, US)
Work Model: Hybrid.
