About the Opportunity As our first in-house legal leader, the Vice President of Legal will be responsible for building and overseeing all legal and compliance functions at Pair Team. This role reports to our Chief Medical and Compliance Officer and collaborates closely with our CEO, executives, and department leaders across operations, finance, partnerships, marketing, and product. This is a high-impact, strategic leadership role that will shape the legal foundation of a mission-driven, fast-growing healthcare company. This is a fully remote position with occasional travel to conferences, strategic meetings, and regulatory or partner engagements.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the company’s primary legal advisor on corporate, healthcare regulatory, commercial, product, employment, and privacy matters
- Build and lead internal legal processes and policies that support risk mitigation, compliance, and business enablement
- Provide legal and regulatory guidance related to Medicaid, Medicare, value-based care, product development, and other company activities
- Own the legal side of contract development and negotiation—drafting, redlining, and advising on deal terms for health plans, vendors, and partners
- Collaborate with operational, clinical, and marketing leaders to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations (e.g. HIPAA, Anti-Kickback, Corporate Practice of Medicine)
- Manage relationships with outside counsel, own the legal budget, and evaluate when to bring legal functions in-house
- Own and evolve the company’s compliance program, ensuring operational and regulatory alignment as we scale
- Partner with the executive team on board governance, corporate transactions, equity matters, and fundraising activities
What You'll Need
- 8+ years of legal experience with at least 3 years in-house at a high-growth digital health or healthcare services company
- JD from an accredited law school; active license to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Deep understanding of healthcare regulations and risk structures—especially related to Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, and managed care—and strong working knowledge of healthcare law
- Expertise in FDA regulation of healthcare software, including the delineation between Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) and clinical decision support tools, and the application of these frameworks to AI-enabled technologies
- Experience advising on commercial and vendor contracting, data privacy, corporate governance, and employment law
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, startup environment with cross-functional collaboration
- Strong judgment and business acumen with an ability to balance legal risk and strategic opportunity
- A passion for healthcare access and a commitment to serving underserved populations
