The WHS Specialist will support the continual development and management of Montu's health and safety strategy. This role ensures compliance with health and safety regulations, manages physical and psychological risks, and drives wellbeing initiatives in a fast-paced, complex health technology environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver advice, support, and practical guidance on health and safety.
- Ensure compliance with relevant workplace health and safety legislation.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate psychosocial risks (e.g., stress, burnout, harassment).
- Assist with training programs on workplace health and safety.
- Participate in regular assessments to identify safety issues and develop action plans.
- Manage implementation and review of corrective and preventative actions.
- Conduct investigations of workplace incidents (including psychosocial) and maintain compliant records.
- Assist with emergency preparedness and response.
- Collaborate with divisional leads to ensure incident and hazard reports are followed up and completed confidentially and timely.
- Participate in injury management/return to work process.
- Prepare regular reports and updates to senior leadership on health and safety initiatives.
- Contribute to health and safety programs, seeking continuous improvement.
- Provide support and collaborate on health and wellbeing strategies.
- Participate in the Montu WHS Committee.
- Collaborate with departments to integrate safety considerations into processes.
- Communicate safety updates, initiatives, and requirements to employees.
- Assist with managing the WHS Framework.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Minimum Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
- 1+ years of experience in a health and safety role.
- Thorough understanding of national workplace health and safety legislation.
Highly Desirable Skills:
- Experience in psychosocial risk management.
- Experience building and implementing training programs.
- Strong ability to manage incident reporting and investigations.
- ICAM Lead Investigation experience.
- Experience in managing safety management software systems.
- Experience in complex, fast-paced environments.
- Experience in conducting WHS Programs across multiple business units.
