Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct client due diligence (CDD) on new and existing clients for AML, bribery, sanctions, and reputational risks.
- Undertake client and matter risk assessments.
- Undertake CDD on third-party payers.
- Monitor existing clients and matters, refreshing CDD as needed, including high-risk clients.
- Perform sanction update screening for clients and matters.
- Monitor internal online monitoring tools.
- Manage all stages of the AML workflow and escalate issues to senior team members.
- Advise on matter opening processes, collaborating with other team members.
- Handle AML inbox queries.
- Assist with internal audit processes.
- Review and update internal compliance policies.
- Assist AML Operations Manager and Senior Financial Crime Lawyers with projects and assignments.
Requirements
- AML Analyst expertise in client due diligence (CDD), high-risk client management, PEPs, and Business Acceptance Committee processes.
- Knowledge of client care, sanctions monitoring, and AML risk assessment based on client jurisdiction and activities.
- Experience with client pre-approval and matter management, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Proficiency in compliance auditing and non-compliance reporting.
Qualifications & Skills
- Legal or compliance experience in a law firm or professional services environment.
- Strong research and information gathering skills, utilizing IT resources.
- Knowledge of relevant compliance rules (e.g., client care, conflicts, confidentiality, AML, sanctions).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear and concise communication with partners and clients.
- Ability to use internal precedents and draft clear emails.
- Open-minded, flexible, and creative approach.
