Job Opportunity: Business Development Manager - West Coast - Medical Device
Team: KMC Systems Business Development
Description: This role is crucial for growing KMC Systems' business. You'll be part of an existing commercial team identifying and developing global business opportunities in contract design, development, and manufacturing (CDMO).
Responsibilities:
- Identify and develop new and follow-on business opportunities for profitable growth.
- Manage complex RFQs in a Product Development and Manufacturing environment.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (Supply Chain, Operations, R&D, Technical Operations, Executive level).
- Develop new customer accounts by understanding customer needs, mapping portfolios, and making presentations to fulfill needs.
- Maintain close relationships with key customer personnel to gather advance program information and understand general requirements.
- Identify programs with potential business opportunities, providing recommendations and information to meet customer needs.
- Understand competitor activities and report information for company strategy.
- Develop and implement Marketing Plans for assigned areas.
- Achieve sales targets in assigned territories/customer categories.
- Attend trade shows, conferences, and customer meetings.
- Prepare presentations and white papers.
- Participate in the customer proposal writing and presentation process.
- Participate in the budget cycle.
- Promote KMC's capabilities through presentations and collateral.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (Life Sciences or Engineering preferred), 5+ years in sales, business development, or key account management, preferably in medical devices, analytical instrumentation, or related domains.
- Domain experience in medical devices, analytical instrumentation, life science instrumentation, in vitro diagnostics, clinical chemistry, or molecular diagnostics, and R&D design/mfg experience.
- Experience or strong knowledge of contract manufacturing.
- Strong oral, written, and presentation skills.
- Professional demeanor and business etiquette.
- Technical aptitude to promote KMC's design and manufacturing capabilities.
- Proven track record of closing deals in complex environments.
- Strong relationship and interpersonal skills.
- Computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Industry contacts, especially in the IVD market.
- Experience at a Contract Manufacturing/Engineering Services company.
- Knowledge of clinical diagnostic applications.
- Working knowledge of FDA & ISO regulated environments (medical devices/instruments).
- Familiarity with quality systems (e.g., ISO13485).
- Familiarity with industry regulatory standards (RoHS, REACH, WEEE, CE, EU Machine Directive).
Travel: Approximately 30%.
