We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager with a strong sales orientation, business development expertise, and preferably a technical background in electrical engineering, EV charging, or fleet management and operations. This role is instrumental in driving revenue growth, fostering strong client relationships, and managing the pre-sales process for municipal and utility fleet electrification projects.
The ideal candidate will possess a blend of business acumen and technical proficiency, particularly in electrical systems, EV infrastructure, or fleet management. A proactive approach is essential, with the ability to identify and engage key decision-makers, coordinate quotations, and collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Sales & Business Development: Identify, engage, and close deals with municipalities and utility fleet operators.
- Pre-Sales & Technical Sales Support: Assess client charging needs, infrastructure limitations, and fleet electrification roadmaps, translating them into tailored proposals.
- Quote Development & Stakeholder Coordination: Gather and present pricing, installation, and commissioning quotes.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, OEMs, installation teams, and internal departments.
- Consultative Selling & Strategic Growth: Act as a trusted advisor, educating clients on EV charging technology and fleet transition best practices.
- Market Intelligence & Industry Trends: Stay informed about EV industry trends and competitive landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales & Relationship Management: Proven track record in business development, pre-sales, or sales roles.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinate with multiple stakeholders (customers, OEMs, installation teams).
- Pre-Sales & Quoting: Experience developing and managing quotations for complex technical projects.
- Technical Background: Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience with EV charging.
- Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting: Ability to work across multiple disciplines.
- Self-Starter with Strategic Selling Approach: Ability to work independently.
Nice-to-Have Skills & Experience
- Flexibility & Adaptability: Comfortable with evolving customer requirements.
- Knowledge of EV Charging Protocols & Infrastructure: Familiarity with OCPP, charging network management.
- Experience in the EV Industry: Experience working with EV charging infrastructure, electric vehicle OEMs.
- Government & Utility Fleet Connections: Existing relationships.
Remote Work & Travel: 30-50% travel required.
Reporting Line: Reports to Head of Municipals.
