Criminal Defense Paralegal Position

We are seeking a Criminal Defense Paralegal to join our US-based law firm client. The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in criminal law.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist attorneys in trial, hearing and client meetings by organizing case files and conducting legal research.
• Draft legal documents, pleadings, motions and correspondence.
• Review and summarize police reports, witness statements, and other evidence.
• Manage case management system, ensure proper filing of all documents.
• Communicate with clients, witnesses, and experts.
• Assist in trial preparation (exhibits, witness lists).
• Conduct legal research to assist in case strategy.
• Assist with case management, billing, and invoicing.

Requirements:

• Associate's degree or comparable legal experience.
• 2-3 years' experience as a paralegal, particularly in criminal defense.
• In-depth criminal law knowledge and legal terminology.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Microsoft Office Suite and legal research application proficiency.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient in English.
• Familiarity with US criminal law (state and federal).
• At least one year of experience in a law office.
• Effective writing skills.
• Experience with CLIO Manage software (advantageous).
• Customer service skills.
• Ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
• Experience with case management software (plus).
