The Senior Customs Clearance Specialist (Vehicles) manages customs documentation and ensures compliance with import and export laws, focusing on vehicle shipments. Reviews and processes customs documents, determines duties and taxes, processes payments, and communicates with stakeholders.
- Reviews and prepares customs documentation.
- Handles inquiries via phone, email, or Slack.
- Completes files accurately, complying with policies.
- Writes detailed notes regarding clients, Freight Forwarders, CBSA, Carriers.
- Maintains and updates the client database.
- Understands vehicle types, makes, and models.
- Knowledgeable about RIV, ECCC, and Transport Canada regulations.
- Knowledgeable about Internal Transaction Numbers (ITNs).
- Proactively seeks knowledge and solutions.
- Prioritizes and meets deadlines.
- Manages and resolves challenging situations.
- Processes B3/CAD entries to meet compliance standards.
- Corrects rejected Canada Customs entries.
- Assigns HS tariff classifications.
- Supports the sales team and cross-sells services.
- Maintains professional status through exams or conferences.
Minimum 1-3 years in a customs brokerage role processing vehicles. Diploma or degree in related field. Experience with CargoWise and CANdata is an asset. CCS designation or industry-related certification is a plus.
