Position Purpose: Identifies, develops and executes long-term, integrated municipal contracts. Maintains a sufficient balance of prospects in the pipeline.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Leads the sales process to seek business opportunities by interviewing customers, suppliers and colleagues.
- Researches customer, partners, and decision-makers, procurement processes, and history with Veolia.
- Interprets customer requirements and recommends best-fitting products.
- Recommends new products and applications for emerging developments.
- Works with Veolia Engineering and Operations to adapt existing products.
- Prepares and delivers sales presentations focusing on customer value.
- Coordinates technical staff and upper-level management visits to customers.
- Arranges customer visits to Veolia facilities and demonstrations.
- Works with customer engineering/technical staff to clarify needs and expectations.
- Manages internal technical audits and approvals.
- Manages and participates in proposal preparation, pricing, and presentations.
- Conducts proposal meetings, assigns tasks, tracks progress, and ensures customer requirements and deadlines are met.
- Automates processes and utilizes historical data for future proposals.
- Leads negotiations, including agreement preparation and financing solutions.
- Maintains close liaison with operations, finance, legal, insurance, and risk management.
- Maintains business development database and prepares monthly reports and internal memos.
- Keeps abreast of new products, specifications, and industry trends, competitor analysis.
- Communicates potential opportunities to other Veolia locations.
- Attends industry trade shows and seminars.
Education/Experience/Background:
- MUST HAVE experience with business development selling to municipalities and government organizations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, business, or a related technical discipline preferred.
- Typically has at least ten years of progressive sales experience.
- Proven track record with complex transactions, pricing, project finance, and financial models.
- Demonstrates effective technical and proposal writing.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to review, comprehend and negotiate complex legal contracts.
- Knowledge of Operations, Maintenance, Consulting, and Professional Services sales.
- Knowledge of Veolia business, services, and capabilities.
- Knowledge of potential customers in target markets.
- Knowledge of competitors in target markets, strategies, strengths, and weaknesses.
- Knowledge of assigned markets, prices, legislation, suppliers, and contract structures.
- Demonstrated understanding of internal and external economic factors.
- Demonstrates effective project planning and organizational skills.
- Demonstrates ability to prepare accurate, timely, effective, complete written communications.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal, verbal, persuasion, presentation, and relationship building skills.

- Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
- Commitment to compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
