Full-Time Director EHS – America’s North Region

Director Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) is responsible for developing and implementing environmental, safety, and regulatory compliance policies and procedures for the America’s North Region.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Hires, develops, coaches, and mentors the talent for the EHS function in the AM-N Region.
• Leads the organization with a strategic forward-thinking mindset on environmental and safety issues and trends.
• Ensures safety is a top priority, embraced by leaders in the region.
• Develops, maintains, and executes environmental and safety programs.
• Interfaces with estimating/budgeting team to assist in cost evaluation and EHS program design.
• Provides technical guidance and support to global EHS and operations teams.
• Presents EHS information to AM-N Region executive management.
• Provides guidance to direct reports on inquiries/complaints, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
• Maintains proper safety staffing on projects and facilities.
• Implements processes and standards to support company strategies, interpreting and applying policy guidelines.
• Works with Global EHS to establish policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA, local, state, and federal laws (safety and environmental).
• Advises management on food safety, crisis management, and regulatory compliance.
• Stays current on trends, practices, and legal issues.
• Assigns or conducts random safety audits and reviews results using statistical evaluation, audit reports, and feedback.
• Oversees reporting, compliance, and incident management.
• Models and reinforces safety as a top priority, fostering a continuous improvement mindset.
• Collects, analyzes, and reports on EHS metrics (leading and lagging indicators).
• Provides technical Subject Matter Expertise on EHS matters.

Scope and Impact:

• Provides EHS services to the America’s North Region (approximately 20 locations).
• Focuses on executing the One Plan EHS Strategy.
• Manages a team of 4-5 direct reports and approximately 20 indirect reports.
• Manages annual OPEX and CAPEX spend within budget limitations.
• Works within a matrix organization (functional and operational) to drive success in the EHS space.

Qualifications:

• BS in Safety Sciences, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, or related degree.
• Master's of Science in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or Environmental Engineering (preferred).
• 10+ years of experience in manufacturing with progressive responsibilities, including multi-facility oversight.
