We have a unique opportunity for a highly analytical and ambitious tax professional to join our Finance team.
Director of North American Tax will lead all aspects of the company's North American tax function, including income tax reporting, tax compliance, oversight of US indirect taxes, tax planning and strategy.
This leader will oversee tools and processes necessary to help us scale for the future. Role includes frequent interaction with the CFO, Finance Leadership Team, and other senior leaders.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee compliance calendar to ensure execution and compliance for all U.S. Federal, State and Local income, indirect and property tax compliance requirements
- Manage State and Local sales and use tax nexus studies, updating accordingly to incorporate any acquisitions into overall tax compliance strategy
- Oversight of Senior Tax Accountant for sales, excise and gross receipts tax compliance in the U.S.
- Oversight of Federal and State Tax Audits, including analysis and response to tax notices for all tax types and U.S. jurisdictions
- Manage/coordinate all controversy processes at the Federal and State levels
- Manage overall FIN48 process including specific analysis for U.S. Domestic and State income tax matters, inclusive of any reporting and reserve tracking required
- Perform tax accounting and financial disclosure in compliance with ASC740, calculation of the annual tax provision, valuation allowance, and deferred tax account reconciliations
- Support Finance function reporting to Audit Committee and senior management on tax risk management and compliance
- Assist in managing budget for outside advisors and ensure that projects are being conducted on time and within budget
- Develop and implement planning ideas to reduce short- and long-term tax burdens
- Review and advise executive management on business transactions such as acquisitions, joint ventures, and other collaborations to minimize tax risk and identify opportunities to generate value
- Assist with global transfer pricing to ensure the allocation of profits is appropriate
- Ensure compliance activities optimize taxes in the U.S.
- Act as lead in supporting external audit of tax, including the preparation of any tax research or memorandum/documentation required
- Coordinate with Director - International Tax on international tax matters

Salary: $160,000 - $200,000 (base) + potential discretionary bonus
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Tax related discipline
- Master's in Tax, LLM, or comparable advanced degree preferred
- 10+ years of broad-based tax experience in a fast-paced environment with at least 5 years at a Big 4 public accounting firm
- Experience in compliance, controversy resolution, financial reporting under U.S. GAAP, planning, and transfer pricing
- Ability to develop, implement and sustain "best practices" for internal controls for tax provisions
- Deep knowledge of ASC740 and FIN48 is highly desirable
- Effective project management skills to oversee outside advisors for simultaneous tax projects
- Experience in a Software-as-a-Service and/or Electronic Payments Processing company is preferred
- Experience with NetSuite and OneStream is preferred but not required
