AECOM has a position available for a Discipline Department Manager to manage our growing and talented Electrical Engineering team within the US Energy Practice. This role offers remote work and/or office locations in various US Energy offices.
Responsibilities
- Team Supervision and Leadership:
- Support Director of Engineering in advancing the culture of technical excellence and accountability
- Supervise and lead a team of electrical engineers through individual and team technical development for improved utility to the organization and career satisfaction
- Mentor electrical engineers within the US Energy Practice and remote teams
- Improve project efficiencies by creating, updating, and implementing standards/templates, researching and recommending software packages/plug-ins
- Provide input to management on project resourcing and staff forecasting
- Develop task and deliverable list with associated hours estimate and schedule to support business development
- Actively support recruiting efforts
- Project Participation:
- Responsible for electrical engineering design work on assigned projects
- Function as the "Engineer of Record" on projects
- Collaborate with multi-discipline technical leads for electrical integration across all projects
- Function as technical electrical lead on assigned projects
- Perform engineering calculations to support construction deliverables
- Generate construction and equipment specifications
- Conduct quality control reviews
- Monitor project progress to ensure quality, on-time, and on-budget delivery
- Ensure technical and safety standards are maintained
- Participate in and present engineering/design work at client meetings
- Level-specific responsibilities:
- Coordinates and provides technical expertise for mid- to large-size projects
- Leads technical client relationships and plays a major role in selling
- Leads discipline department efforts to grow technical expertise
- Leads technical business development work
- Provides specialized technical input to studies and design
- Approves and signs off on work
- Leader in one or more areas of technology
- Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on large, complex projects
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university
- 10+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience within industrial and/or power facilities
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years experience in team supervision
- 7+ years as discipline technical lead on industrial or power generation projects
- Physical design experience for industrial facilities
- Experience participating in complex, multi-discipline programs/projects and teams
- Passion for developing talented technical teams
- Experience on full EPC, Design/Build projects
- Experience working in remote and multi-discipline teams
- Expert familiarity with industry codes and standards (NFPA, NEC, NESC, IEEE, etc.)
- Expert familiarity of current building codes and standards
- Power systems analysis software experience (ETAP, SKM, EasyPower)
- Solar or BESS facility experience
- Experience working in collaborative 3D model environments (e.g., Navisworks) and laser scan data
- Active participation in industry or code committees
