About the job
Company is based in Santa Monica, CA
Position is Remote (US/Canada)
Maximus (https://www.maximustribe.com/) is a mission-driven consumer health company that provides men with content, community, and clinical support to optimize them in mind and body. Maximus has raised $15M from top Silicon Valley VCs such as Founders Fund and 8VC as well as leading angel investors/operators from companies like Bulletproof, Tinder, Coinbase, Daily Stoic, & Shopify.
Maximus is looking for a Internal Product Manager to create team efficiency and unlock new workflows by developing and maintaining tools for internal teams. As Internal Product Manager you are responsible for helping internal teams operate the tools you are managing by preparing release notes, developing instructional documentation, and hosting training sessions. The solutions you develop will be scalable and able to support flexible and often nuanced workflows. Key stakeholders include customer support, marketing, finance, and operations.
You will also be the first responder to bug reports and feature feedback. As first responder you will serve as a buffer and translator between your stakeholders and the engineering team, ensuring that bug reports are truly bugs and not feature gaps or a misunderstanding of feature functionality. In response to bug reports and feedback, you are responsible for writing and prioritizing tickets for engineering.
The ideal candidate is highly technical, with the ability to learn complex systems, interpret API documentation, and ultimately translate business needs into technical solutions. The candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and an excellent communicator, which is demonstrated in their documentation, UML, ticket writing, and feature testing. This product manager will play a key role in developing the product roadmap through their feature prioritization, balancing business impact and effort.
The ideal candidate has strong problem-solving skills, a proactive attitude, and excellent organizational and multitasking abilities. They will ensure compliance with data security and privacy regulations in all tools and processes.
Please note: Culture is key at Maximus, so we get to know candidates holistically through our questionnaire. You will receive an invite in a separate email upon submitting an application. Please fill it out as honestly and intuitively as possible since it is designed to detect exaggeration, which will cause your application to be automatically rejected. The questionnaire is optional to submit now with your application, but candidates that do so will get strongly prioritized. Note, we do not have access to individual questions’ answers/choices.
Responsibilities:
-
Develop and maintain deep knowledge of stakeholder needs. Administer surveys and facilitate working sessions with internal teams to field questions and feedback on internal products and to identify inefficiencies in workflows. Translate needs into requirements that can be scoped by technical project managers. Quantify business impact for features so that they can be prioritized effectively. Clearly communicate feature priorities and timelines to stakeholders
-
Drive efficient product development. Collaborate and maintain an open line of communication with design and engineering to ensure deliverables stay unblocked and move efficiently through the product development pipeline. Lead daily stand-ups with a dedicated team of engineers to remove blockers and clarify priorities. For large projects, host kick-off meetings and check-ins to ensure progress is being made and timelines are met. Where required, conduct vendor analyses to identify best-fit solutions
-
Ensure users are up-to-date on releases and are able to operate tools effectively. Maintain a strong line of communication with stakeholders, giving proactive visibility to upcoming releases, providing detailed release notes, and hosting user training sessions. Field questions and feedback as they arise, identifying opportunities to enhance features
-
Participate in regular testing and scaling of tools. Assist in manual user testing in staging environments prerelease to ensure acceptance criteria are met. Ensure dedicated QA resources are able to test effectively by preparing robust acceptance criteria and responding promptly to clarifying questions when they arise. Develop pre- and post-launch plans for assessing feature impact and ensuring smooth operation in production
Qualifications:
-
Product Management: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a product manager. Ideally experience includes time at a growth stage start-up and experience in healthcare/telemedicine eCommerce. Strong background in using project management and collaboration tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Trello). Excellent documenter, with proven track record maintaining detailed product specifications. Strong ticket writing skills and high proficiency using project management software. Abstract thinking skills to develop robust test plans to ensure launches
-
Product Roadmapping: Must have experience applying product roadmap framework for strategic feature prioritization and capacity planning to align product development with business goals and stakeholder needs
-
KPI Ownership: Must have history identifying, defining, and improving metrics related to workflow efficiency. Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., SQL, BigQuery, LookerStudio) a plus
-
Technical Experience: Must have held roles requiring deep understanding of technical systems, interpretation of API documentation, management of homegrown and third-party software. Demonstrated ability to conduct technical troubleshooting
Qualities:
-
High Conscientiousness: Highly effective, organized, dutiful, self-disciplined, and careful. You are the type of person who used multiple colors of highlighters, and everyone wanted to borrow notes from. You never forget a task, execute it flawlessly, and are as reliable as clockwork.
-
High Horsepower & Humility: High intellectual and physical energy. You eagerly solve big, complex, and ambiguous company problems, while having the humility to “roll your sleeves up” and do the dirty work without complaint.
-
Creative Thinker: Highly creative thinker who tends to find solutions that others don’t see or inappropriately dismiss. Not content to do the safe bet everyone else takes.
-
Relentlessly Resourceful (http://www.paulgraham.com/relres.html): highly proactive, does not quit, and finds innovative solutions with little guidance. Bias for action and ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment with a high degree of autonomy.
-
Passion for Men’s Health & Development: interest in helping men develop a healthy masculinity. Demonstrates personal dedication and interest in health optimization (e.g. diet, exercise, sleep, focus, and relationships).

-
Full Suite: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance
-
Best-in-class 401K options
-
Flexible vacation/time-off policies
-
Liquidity of options whenever available
-
Extended options exercise window for loyal employees (3 months for every year of service; e.g. 1 year for 4+ year employees)
