Overview: Experienced Capability Manager with a Java engineering background to oversee a talent pool of ~50–60 people within a Java-focused Chapter Stream, ensuring workforce readiness, delivery alignment and employee engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bench & Staffing Management: Anticipate and manage bench risks, identify available/transitioning employees and allocate efficiently across projects.
- Skills Alignment & Capability Building: Map skills to upcoming demand, support technical growth and capability development (e.g. Spring, Hibernate).
- Staffing Collaboration: Contribute to staffing decisions, recommend team compositions and balance cost-effectiveness with technical fit.
- Performance & People Leadership: Lead performance lifecycle (1:1s, evaluations, PIPs, salary discussions), mentor employees and create development plans.
- Engagement & Retention: Monitor eNPS/Officevibe, address disengagement, implement retention strategies and mediate conflicts.
- Operations & Governance: Maintain HR data, follow governance for people/financials/staffing, provide reporting and manage labor costs.
Accountabilities:
- Maintain attrition within targets and proactively address retention risks.
- Safeguard and improve employee engagement scores.
- Ensure delivery readiness and optimal workforce allocation for current and future needs.
- Balance employee career opportunities with business objectives.
Requirements:
- Previous hands-on Java development experience (4–5+ years) and deep understanding of Java ecosystems and frameworks.
- Proven experience managing medium-to-large technical teams and staffing/bench management.
- Strong performance management, career development and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience with engagement tools (eNPS, Officevibe) and financial acumen for staffing and profitability.
- Familiarity with agile delivery models and excellent English communication skills.
