About the opportunityJoin our Corporate Division as Legal Counsel in Melbourne to make a real impact every day. Reporting into Head of Legal, Commercial (APAC), you will help us support the Legal function in building a world-class legal and regulatory infrastructure for sustainable business performance into the future.
Responsibilities
- Assist in providing legal advice to the business units and central functions.
- Advise the group on legal risks.
- Provide legal advice and support with regards to all aspects of the group’s activities in APAC.
- Provide pragmatic but legally sound guidance and maintain a culture of excellence.
- Maintain relationships with external counsel and strategic advisors.
- Provide legal and contractual support for all business areas, including commercial contracting, product development, payments, sales, and marketing.
- Take responsibility for substantive legal issues (commercial, payments, privacy, product, intellectual property, regulatory and corporate).
- Work closely with Legal & Compliance Leadership in monitoring and responding to relevant statutory, regulatory and policy changes.
- Reinforce a culture of compliance, including formulating and complying with internal policies, rules and procedures.
- Stay up to date with legal and regulatory developments, assessing their impact on the business and advising accordingly.
Location: 100% remote anywhere in Australia with a Melbourne office option.
Qualifications
- Law qualification from a reputable institution and admitted as a solicitor/lawyer (ideally in Australia).
- Prior in-house legal experience.
- 4-6 years of post-qualification legal experience.
- Proven ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong ability to manage competing priorities.
- Legal negotiation and drafting experience.
- Broad legal experience (corporate, commercial, payments, product/technology, intellectual property, and compliance).
- Strong critical thinking skills and proactive mindset.
