The Markets Coordinator will assist farmers across the United States to connect with organic market opportunities and buyers, and work to establish local, regional, and national supply chains, with a particular focus on the East Coast. The Market Coordinator will report to the Markets Development Manager and Consulting Director. This position will work remotely from a home office, ideally near a major airport in the Northeast or Southeast of the United States. This position will require extensive regional travel with some national travel for site visits, events, and other meetings/conferences.
This position is funded through the end of June 2026.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Event Coordination: Facilitate organic market supplier/buyer discovery events (in-person) and organic market development workshops (in-person). Also, facilitate virtual webinars and advisor calls.
- Technical Assistance & Community Building: Build relationships with buyers, supply chain actors, regional TOPP partners, and regional food business centers. Connect farmers with buyers (food hubs, grain chains, coops, etc.) and multi-regional buyers (CPG brands, wholesale buyers). Develop markets plans for organic full crop rotations. Identify organic market needs and communicate them.
- Farmer Support: Ensure awareness of grant opportunities. Support farmer understanding of processor/handler NOP rules. Attend agriculture meetings, conferences, field days, and events. Support farms and organizations to address food insecurity and offer services to historically underserved populations.
- Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate client and project files. Develop reports of coordinator activities as requested. Manage travel, conference, and education budgets. Stay updated on organic certification to ensure producer and supply chain actor compliance.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated on market trends and supply chain conditions. Complete International Organic Inspector Association (IOIA) Processing & Handling Training.
