Operations Engineer (Starship Electronics Production)
Become part of the Starship team, revolutionizing orbital flight. Our team designs and builds advanced electrical hardware for space travel at an unprecedented rate and cost. Join this fast-paced avionics production team.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure demand signal accuracy across all Starship Electronics products, maintaining schedule.
- Develop KPIs and dashboards to measure factory success.
- Drive factory layout changes to minimize downtime, coordinating with vendors and SpaceX facilities.
- Own optimized floor layouts for streamlined part flow.
- Define new business processes for high-volume production, including manufacturing execution and inventory management.
- Act as a subject matter expert in multiple Starship production processes.
- Assist production leadership in identifying trends and opportunities for optimization.
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Test, Inventory, Quality, Software, and Supply Chain.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- 1+ years of experience in production engineering, manufacturing, or project management.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- High-volume production experience (automotive or similar).
- CAD program proficiency (AutoCAD, Revit, Siemens NX, or similar).
- SQL database competency and query writing.
- Experience with Lean principles, Six Sigma concepts, and project management methodologies.
- Python application experience (web-based).
- Experience with discrete event modeling software, statistical analysis, or operations research.
- Software development experience (custom software, ERP/MES systems).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Data analysis and communication of conclusions.
- Experience with production start-up and ramp periods.
- Experience working with multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams.
- Customer requirement gathering and execution.
- Adaptability in fast-paced, high-stress environments.
- Stakeholder communication and influence.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work extended hours, nights, and/or weekends.
- Up to 5-10% travel to SpaceX facilities.
- On-site position in Hawthorne, CA.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Operations Engineer/Level I: $95,000 - $115,000/year
- Operations Engineer/Level II: $110,000 - $130,000/year
