Are you an experienced Claims Assessor? Do you thrive in a team that empowers you to make critical decisions regarding clients? Are you looking for a remote-based role?
We are recruiting for Senior Claims Assessors to join our expanding team. We offer a base salary of up to £45,000, depending on experience.
The purpose of the role is to provide excellent customer service and claims handling. This includes proactive working with Claims Assessors, claimants, medical professionals, and 3rd parties to obtain requirements, supporting claims assessment and minimizing end-to-end time to maintain customer satisfaction.
Your responsibilities include:
- Gathering evidence and medically assessing information to accept or decline claims (may be complex, contentious, or sensitive).
- Displaying consistent logical reasoning in various circumstances, including fraud, overseas issues, litigation/prospect of litigation, manager/GFC/legal service liaison.
- Communicating professionally and efficiently with internal and external customers and third parties.
- Ensuring customer expectations are met by providing accurate information and keeping customers informed of progress using appropriate contact methods.
- Identifying appeals and taking ownership of complaints, investigating root causes, and escalating when needed.
- Providing ongoing training, coaching, and technical support to team members.
- Contributing to claims projects, identifying issues, and recommending solutions to enhance service to claims customers.
- Applying TCF (Treating Customers Fairly) principles, clearly outlining the claims journey to manage expectations and achieve customer satisfaction.
Required skills:
- Experience as a Claims Assessor in terminal illness or critical illness claims.
- Experience in assessing lump sum critical illness claims (cancer, heart attack, stroke, brain tumors).
- Extensive knowledge of the full claims process, customer journey, claim events, and insurance products/policy conditions.
- Experience handling complex, contentious, refuted, or sensitive claims and strong medical knowledge.
- Strong written communication skills for accurate customer communication, summarizing case notes, and handling refuted claims.
- Experience communicating with reinsurers and medical officers.
- Ability to anticipate and resolve problems and prioritize workload effectively.
- Thorough understanding of ABI guidelines for misrepresentation and treating customers fairly.
- Knowledge of legal aspects pertaining to claims (e.g., probate, CIDRA).
- Comprehensive knowledge of financial calculations for claims payment.
