Position Summary: The Senior Vice President, Global Medical Affairs will set Global Medical Affairs strategies and manage all initiatives in support of Development and Commercial programs. This leader will develop and oversee post-approval activities, build Key Opinion Leader partnerships, and manage a high-functioning global medical affairs team.
Work Model: Remote, with occasional travel to Ultragenyx offices.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Medical Affairs strategic input and direction for marketed products globally.
- Provide strategic input into drug development plans to support commercial needs.
- Drive and execute global strategic plans (Publication, KOL/Advisory Board, Investigator-Initiated Research, Continuing Medical Education and Grants).
- Grow and manage a high-functioning Medical Affairs organization, focusing on staff development and succession planning.
- Ensure compliance with relevant drug regulations.
- Provide Medical Affairs leadership to MSL and PDL teams and manage KOL relationships.
- Represent Medical Affairs to key internal stakeholders (Commercial, Business Development, etc.).
- Provide medical leadership and support to the Commercial Team in executing compliant commercial activities.
- Utilize medical/scientific expertise to support research, clinical development, and licensed product maintenance.
Requirements:
- MD with 15+ years in biotech/pharma industry, Clinical Drug Development and/or Corporate Medical Affairs.
- 12+ years managing and leading post-commercial clinical and medical teams.
- Experience managing a global medical affairs function or implementing Medical Affairs programs.
- Product pre-launch/successful launch experience.
- Knowledge of FDA requirements, industry compliance, and medical information processes.
- Working knowledge of legal and promotional regulatory requirements.
- Strong leadership and influencing skills across all levels.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
Pay Range: $416,800 - $514,800 USD
