Role Purpose: The Software Solutions Designer is a high-visibility, high-impact, customer-facing role, responsible for developing and executing strategies for the BEUMER Group organization in North America. Leads and manages technical software sales efforts to achieve company objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements, analyze existing processes and systems, and design innovative logistics solutions.
- Design end-to-end logistics solutions (WCS/WES, TMS, Inventory Management, Supply Chain Visibility).
- Evaluate logistics technologies to identify suitable options based on requirements, scalability, and cost.
- Develop integration strategies connecting logistics systems with WMS and other business applications.
- Design data models and database schemas for logistics data, ensuring data integrity, security, and performance.
- Analyze workflows to identify inefficiencies and propose optimizations for operational efficiency.
- Identify potential risks and challenges, including data security vulnerabilities and regulatory compliance.
- Develop documentation, user manuals, and training materials.
- Support Sales by assisting in functional design and providing functional descriptions.
- Mentor and train systems engineers in design and documentation development.
- Assist Sales Managers and Marketing in promoting software solutions.
- Assist in developing a program to target software upgrade opportunities for legacy customers.
- Act as a liaison between Sales and software, controls engineering, and Data Analytics groups.
- Assist in preparing cost estimates for development and integration.
- Participate in hand-over process, ensuring correct design parameters for software functionality.
- Coordinate software activities with other BEUMER companies.
- Support development of the BEUMER WCS product.
- Act as Product Owner for Pouch Sorter.
- Interface with BGG on design and solutions.
- Write/update Standard Functional Specs.
- Interface with Operations and CS to develop training.
- Coordinate global efforts, especially with BDK and BM.
- Develop white papers on solutions.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field (Computer Science, Supply Chain, etc.). Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar Solutions Architect role, focusing on logistics systems.
- In-depth knowledge of logistics technologies (WCS, TMS, RFID, EDI, IoT).
- Proficiency in system design and modeling tools (UML, BPMN, ArchiMate).
- Strong understanding of logistics processes, supply chain principles, and industry best practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Project management experience.
