Strategic Account Manager, Government is a hunter role focused on driving new business within the State and Local Government sector. The SAM is responsible for upselling and cross-selling to enterprise customers while pursuing new prospects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a Government-focused, territory-specific strategic plan with measurable objectives.
- Identify key purchasing vehicles, schedules, and partnerships to expedite purchasing and shorten sales cycles.
- Build account plans for major accounts, including influence matrices and org structures.
- Manage enterprise government accounts in Nearmap's CRM system, maintaining pipeline and tracking interactions.
- Manage opportunities, build new pipeline, and utilize RFP processes.
- Engage with partners for mutual success and participate in team meetings.
- Assist others, collaborate, respect others, and be a good business partner.
- Be open to product, industry, and sales trainings.
- Maintain accurate customer data in Salesforce (customer info, opportunities, interactions).
- File accurate and timely reports for HR and Finance.
- Handle customer inquiries promptly and effectively.
Experience Requirements:
- 5+ years of public sector enterprise account selling experience.
- Experience with RFPs and Enterprise Sales.
- Experience in new business generation and closing deals.
- Strategic solution selling experience.
- Software/SaaS sales experience with subscription model knowledge (highly desirable).
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong CRM (ideally Salesforce) proficiency.
- Excellent collaboration and closing skills.
- Public sector/government acumen and C-Suite executive selling experience.
- Coaching and closing skills at all levels.
- In-depth sales cycle knowledge.
- Travel up to 25%.
- Excellent written, visual, and verbal presentation skills.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a related business discipline or equivalent experience.
