The VP of Sales, CPG is responsible for all pipeline business and revenue achievement within the Vestcom Media Solutions (VMS) team at the Headquarter CPG level. In this role, you will lead a team of National CPG sales professionals to overachieve sales targets and unlock new opportunities for the company.
As a member of the VMS leadership team, you will collaborate with various functional and business teams fostering an environment of teamwork, excellence, and inclusion. As a leader in this space you will interact with executive level clients as well as internal senior leaders in order to communicate opportunities and win business.
Qualifications:
- Lead the formulation and execution of sales strategies & plans across CPG Headquarter accounts
- Focus on educating the market on Vestcom Media Solutions (VMS) value proposition and motivate clients to shift media budgets and close strategic opportunities
- Penetrate and develop high level customer relationships with senior client leadership contacts across territory, ranging from Brand Managers, Agency VP’s, and VP of National Shopper Marketing roles
- Must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to understand key retailer and CPG measurement criteria on both topline and bottom-line metrics
- Comfortable with carrying and exceeding quota in the high tens of millions
- Manage, hire and develop the CPG Headquarters sales team into a collaborative and strategic selling entity
- Guide prospecting approaches, sales presentations, and proposals to drive team to develop recommendations that position VMS value proposition as a necessary part of the brand Marketing Mix
- Manage Sales pipeline across the team and deliver consistent close rates to achieve Sales goals
- Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting utilizing existing CRM tool
- Optimize and oversee sales staff compensation and incentive programs that motivate the sales team to overachieve their sales targets
- Define and coordinate sales training programs that enable staff to achieve their potential and support company sales objectives
- Monitor customer, market, and competitor activity and provide feedback to company leadership team and other company functions
- Ability to understand market dynamics, as well as evangelize and execute behind next generation (i.e. digital) solutions that are introduced into market
- Have exceptional listening skills and the ability to identify new opportunities and apply creative problem solving abilities
- Work cross functionally with other members of the Vestcom Executive, Marketing, Strategy, Business Development, Finance, Solutions and Shopper teams to support the sales process
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field required. Master’s degree a plus
- At least 10+ years of direct Sales experience with Retail/CPG focus in marketing/sales organizations
- At least 5+ years of Sales leadership experience with 5 or more direct reports carrying a Sales quota
- Experience working for either a leading CPG or a large marketing-oriented solution provider is required
- Knowledge of Brand, Retail, Shopper Marketing and Media landscape
- Must have a record for achieving top-line revenue, and bottom-line targets
- A proven track record of penetrating executive and C-Level contacts
- Experience in consultative data driven selling
- Experience successfully developing and deploying sales and go to market strategy
- Experience building and leading high performing sales teams
- Exceptional skills including negotiation, conflict management, account management, account penetration, strategic selling, category management, sales forecasting, and leading edge sales strategies
- Self-starter with the ability to manage up and down - Hunter first mentality and team mentor
- Superior analytical and oral, interpersonal, & written communication skills
Travel to other locations may be required up to 75% of time.
