Full-Time Assistant General Counsel

The role: SoFi is seeking an attorney with a strong financial regulation background focused on digital assets. This role assists the Associate General Counsel in providing legal counsel on innovative digital asset products and general legal matters.

What you'll do:

• Advise on digital assets and brokerage products (development, launch, maintenance, structuring, marketing, disclosures, regulatory risk)
• Provide legal guidance on securities law, SEC/CFTC regulations, FINRA rules, and digital asset regulation.
• Partner with compliance on internal controls and governance frameworks for new product launches.
• Review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements with vendors, custodians, and service providers.
• Monitor regulatory developments affecting digital assets, securities brokerage, and banking laws.
• Assist in developing customer terms and disclosures for digital assets and brokerage services.
• Handle other assignments as needed.

What you'll need:

• JD from an accredited law school and licensed in at least one US jurisdiction.
• 4-6 years of experience, ideally in a law firm or in-house legal department.
• Experience advising on digital assets, blockchain, or crypto-related legal issues.

Nice to have:

• Experience with financial services or FinTech companies
• Familiarity with broker-dealer and investment advisor regulatory frameworks (Securities Act, Exchange Act, Investment Advisers Act, Reg BI, FINRA rules)
