Job Details
Crowell & Moring LLP is seeking a Conflicts Attorney responsible for:
- Daily review and analysis of conflicts related to new clients, matters, and lateral attorneys.
- Interfacing with senior Conflicts Department members and the General Counsel’s Office.
- Handling assignments from the General Counsel’s Office and firm administration.
Job Responsibilities:
- Analyzing conflict of interest reports for new firm representations and lateral hires.
- Resolving conflict of interest issues, including obtaining waivers and drafting ethics wall memos.
- Analyzing new matter requests for compliance with firm policies and rules of professional responsibility.
- Reviewing and editing draft engagement letters.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of conflict-of-interest principles.
- Knowledge of financial management systems (e.g., Elite), MS Word, Excel, and internet research.
- Knowledge of technical systems associated with law firm new business intake; InTapp preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to analyze information, apply critical thinking, and pay attention to detail.
Education:
- Law degree and bar membership required.
Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience in conflict of interest law and/or professional responsibility; 3 years in a mid-size to large law firm preferred.
