Director of Legal and Business Affairs
Heavy transactional role supporting company revenue activities, including global enterprise sales, marketplace of third-party products, commercial arrangements with truck OEMs and other matters.
Requires expertise in: commercial law, software licensing, service arrangements, intellectual property, hardware development, supply, business development, distribution, marketing, and privacy law.
Must have experience with contract processes, international operations, employment law, litigation management, intellectual property, procurement, patents, and corporate finance/governance.
Essential Responsibilities
Demonstrated success at law firms and in-house at tech companies (ideally SaaS), supporting business development, sales, marketing, and commercial contracts, preferably globally.
Experience negotiating and documenting professional services, technology outsourcing, SaaS enterprise sales, and distribution/marketing relationships.
Strong business acumen, legal drafting skills, interpersonal skills, and sound judgment.
Experience with formal contract processes (quote to signed agreement).
Ability to collaborate with sales, business development, advanced technology, product operations, engineering, finance, and other legal team members.
Willingness to handle large matters and high-volume smaller matters.
Collaboration skills across functions, time zones, countries, languages, and companies.
Education and Experience
JD from accredited law school and admission to relevant jurisdiction bar.
7-10+ years in-house legal experience, preferably at a SaaS or technology business with global operations and high growth.
Experience with enterprise sales contracts, professional service contracts, marketing/distribution, software licensing, IP licensing, and data privacy is essential.
Additional relevant experience desired.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Location
Must live in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, or San Diego counties; local candidates preferred (San Diego).
Travel to San Diego office required.
