Brightspeed is seeking an outgoing, high-energy, self-starting professional to convey complex business and regulatory strategies to internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities include developing and maintaining business relationships with key stakeholders (state public utility commissions, broadband grant offices, etc.), internal business teams, and local/state government customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage regulatory, legislative, and local government issues affecting Brightspeed and its customers.
- Meet with mayors, council members, etc., to articulate company vision and plans.
- Develop and implement public policy positions/strategies.
- Monitor legislation and coordinate with lobbyists/industry players.
- Cultivate/maintain relationships with government officials/industry players.
- Resolve right-of-way, permitting, and other issues.
- Manage relationships with telecom/broadband associations.
- Proactively evaluate legislation/regulations, drafting revisions.
- Analyze broadband grant requirements and maximize grant awards.
- Build/enhance Brightspeed's business/community reputation with local chambers of commerce and groups.
- Act as principal contact for the Network Operations team.
- Coordinate with various Brightspeed departments on local/state government issues.
- Support local go-to-market programs.
- Coordinate with Corporate Communications on public messaging.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience in state/local government affairs/regulatory/legislative affairs.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- Strong problem-solving, partnership, and collaboration skills.
- Strong verbal/written communication and analytical abilities.
- Extensive portfolio of relationships across state and local government.

- Telecommunications/cable industry experience
- Broadband/telecommunications issue knowledge.
- Local community engagement/public affairs experience.
- Public policy/compliance implementation experience
- Master's degree or Juris Doctorate (JD)
