Brightspeed is seeking an outgoing, high-energy professional to convey business strategies and ideas to internal and external stakeholders, including government officials and business teams.
You will develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders. Responsibilities include:
- Meeting with mayors, council members, and administrators to present Brightspeed's vision and gain support, especially for broadband grants.
- Maintaining relationships with local government and community leaders.
- Supporting the Broadband Office with community outreach for broadband grants.
- Engaging with localities regarding the fiber build plan.
- Analyzing grant requirements and maximizing broadband grant awards.
- Building relationships with chambers of commerce, economic development councils, and community groups.
- Serving as the main contact for the Network Operations team on local government issues.
- Collaborating with various departments (Real Estate, Engineering, etc.) on government issues.
- Supporting local go-to-market programs.
- Coordinating with Corporate Communications on public messaging.
- Cultivating relationships with public officials and industry players.
- Monitoring state legislative activity related to telecom and broadband.
Requirements include:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years in state/local government affairs or public sector grant advocacy.
- Experience in local community engagement and public affairs.
- High personal and professional integrity.
- Comfort with a dynamic technology landscape.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Understanding of state and local politics.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Bonus Points for telecommunications/cable experience, knowledge of federal/state/local broadband issues, and experience with broadband grant funding (e.g., ARPA, BEAD).
