Inside Sales Representative - Customs (US and CAN) [Canada-based]
This Canadian-based Inside Sales Representative role supports both Canadian and U.S. customs clients.
Responsibilities:
- Manage high volumes of inbound and outbound customer communications, ensuring service quality and resolving issues promptly.
- Coordinate with customers, maintain client profiles, and cultivate strong relationships through communication.
- Assist with product/service inquiries, develop action plans, manage correspondence, and support the team.
- Up-sell services, ensure account setup, and contribute to client reviews by monitoring and analyzing activity.
- Respond to inquiries via phone, email, chat, text, and WhatsApp.
- Qualify leads and triage inquiries to appropriate teams.
- Guide prospective clients (primarily importers) through onboarding and customs documentation.
- Review and organize submitted documents for accuracy and compliance with US/Canadian customs requirements.
- Maintain proactive communication to support retention, prevent disruptions, and strengthen relationships.
- Prepare contracts, update profiles, and manage correspondence/transactions.
- Escalate time-sensitive/problematic cases to management.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless service.
- Identify cross-sell/up-sell opportunities and present BorderBuddy services.
- Support the development and implementation of Client Business Reviews through data tracking and analysis.
- Monitor online chat interactions and identify selling opportunities or feature requests.
- Provide administrative support to the senior sales team.
- Report directly to the Sales Manager.
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of inbound sales/customer service experience in a service-based industry (customs brokerage/logistics preferred).
- Post-secondary education preferred.
- CCS designation or other industry-related certification is an asset but not required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; fluent in English.
- Ability to assess client needs and effectively position service solutions.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; able to multitask.
- Proven team player with a positive, self-motivated attitude.
- Proficient in Google Workspace and CRM platforms.
- Detail-oriented, resourceful, and eager to learn. Additional languages (French/Mandarin) are considered assets.
Compensation:
$40,000 - $50,000 per year, with variable commission opportunities.
