About the Role:The National Sales Senior Director is a key leadership position on the Screening Team, responsible for leading primary care sales leadership and sales team.
This position reports directly into the Vice President of Screening Sales.
The National Sales Director will lead customer-facing activity to drive adoption of our early cancer CRC screening test with primary care physicians and other targeted customers.
The role is responsible for hiring, coaching, and developing sales leaders who will hire and lead a team of sales professionals focused on primary care physicians.
This role helps build the Screening Team, shape culture, and inspire a team to bring Guardant's early cancer CRC screening test to adoption and guideline-driven use.
Works with internal stakeholders to develop sales training content, provides input for quarterly/annual planning meetings, and ensures effective field execution with sales operations.
Consistently evaluates and exceeds execution metrics, sales trends, and market analysis, leading to clear tactical direction for results.
Identifies areas for sales team development and builds a team, budget, and resourcing plan.
Responsibilities:
- Hire, lead, and develop a leadership team to build a customer-facing structure supporting launch.
- Lead team leaders across customer-facing activities, account management, and direct HCP promotion.
- Develop and implement comprehensive business plans including budgets, territory management, and goal setting.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to inform and shape brand strategy and tactical execution plans.
- Analyze the competitive landscape and environment to determine trends and provide customer feedback.
- Ensure excellence in brand strategy execution across primary care customer-facing teams.
- Meet with key KOLs and engage key customers to support sales objectives.
- Collaborate with multiple departments (IT, finance, marketing, sales ops, training, legal) for customer-facing team support.
- Partner with Screening Key Account Management for local MSA pull-through and synergies.
- Champion compliance and create a culture of compliance.
- Lead with a strategic mindset focused on patients, performance, and team engagement.
- Represent Guardant Health company values internally and externally.
Experience:
- 7+ years of demonstrated above-average performance, with 4+ years in a second-line sales leadership role in Pharmaceuticals, Lab, Hospital, or Diagnostics, preferably in primary care.
- Experience developing and leading large sales organizations (250+).
- Success working with health systems, integrated delivery networks, and large independent practices.
- Ability to build and execute strategic account plans.
- Deep understanding of payor and reimbursement environment in primary care.
- Ability to work independently, communicate proactively, manage multiple projects, and meet critical deadlines.
- Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
- Develop and utilize cross-functional relationships.
- Experience managing remote teams.
- Ability to travel up to 75% of the time.
Education:
- B.S. in Life Science, Biology, Business, or Marketing ideal, with advanced degree preferred.
Compensation: $200,000 - $270,000 (USD).
