Serve Robotics is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to manage all payroll processing for U.S. (hourly and salaried employees) and international payroll cycles. This role is critical in ensuring timely and accurate payroll operations, compliance with tax regulations, and seamless collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Own and manage end-to-end payroll processing for U.S. (hourly and salaried employees) and international payroll cycles.
- Partner with the Equity Manager to process equity payroll for all equity-related transactions (e.g., RSU vestings, stock option exercises).
- Monitor the brokerage corporate account and reconcile sell-to-cover transactions to ensure tax withholdings have been collected.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, as well as international payroll requirements.
- Set up new state tax filings as the company expands.
- Oversee EOR and new country set-ups.
- Handle quarterly and year-end payroll tax reporting (W-2s, T4s, 1099s, etc.).
- Manage payroll journal entries, account reconciliations, and reporting.
- Provide information for audits and reviews.
- Conduct payroll audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Manage relationships with third-party providers and external tax agencies.
- Respond to employee inquiries, ensuring a high level of service and confidentiality.
- Stay up-to-date with changing regulations.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience managing and processing payroll, including multi-state and international payroll.
- 2+ years of equity compensation tax compliance.
- 2+ years of owning state tax registrations and filings.
- 1+ years of handling international tax registrations and filings.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll tax laws, wage and hour laws, and payroll best practices in multiple states.
- Proficiency in payroll systems and co-employment payroll providers (PEO, ASO, or EOR).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
