Full-Time Senior Counsel - Product

About the Role

We are looking to add the first Product Counsel to our Legal, Risk, and Compliance team. You will handle legal and compliance matters, advising the business, focusing on product and engineering, as we scale our loan portfolio and build our technology platform.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal and regulatory guidance to product development teams to enable compliant product launches.
• Anticipate emerging regulatory issues and develop solutions with other business units.
• Create, maintain, and elevate policies, playbooks, and processes.
• Draft, review, and negotiate vendor agreements (terms of use, master services agreements, statements of work, technology licensing agreements, partnership agreements, payment network agreements, and financial institution partnerships).

Ideal Background

• JD from accredited law school and licensed in at least one state.
• 4+ years of professional experience at a top law firm and in-house at a growth-stage financial services company.
• Experience creating and drafting policies, procedures, and control documents.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional work at all levels.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to drive complex projects.
• Ability to develop solutions to complex legal matters while understanding business objectives.
• Knowledge of mortgage regulations (GLBA, RESPA, HMDA, ECOA, FDCPA, TCPA, TILA, and state mortgage laws) strongly preferred.
