We are seeking a dynamic Senior Development Officer for major gift fundraising in Eastern Canada. You'll build and maintain a network of philanthropic supporters, focusing on the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Montreal, and Ottawa.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of 80-150 major gift donors and prospects.
- Conduct 100-180 personal visits annually and submit 30+ proposals.
- Secure major gifts ($50,000+), emphasizing six- and seven-figure contributions.
- Collaborate with Prospect Research to identify new prospects and expand your network.
- Develop compelling proposals, grant applications, and solicitation materials.
- Maintain accurate donor records in the CRM system and ensure donor recognition.
Relationship Building:
- Cultivate long-term relationships with donors, prospects, and partners.
- Attend events, conduct meetings, and create strategic engagement opportunities.
- Align donor priorities with CAWST's mission and funding needs.
- Provide strategic recommendations for development strategy.
Team Collaboration & Mentorship:
- Share expertise in major gifts and prospect management with colleagues.
- Support fundraising efforts at organizational events and campaigns.
- Assist in engaging and supporting board members and volunteers.
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in major gift fundraising, proven success in securing six-figure+ donations.
- Exceptional networking and relationship-building skills.
- Strong communication skills, including persuasive proposal writing.
- Data-driven approach and experience managing donor pipelines.
- CRM proficiency and donor database management knowledge.
- Knowledge of philanthropic trends and best practices.
- Collaborative, adaptable, and mission-driven mindset.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CFRE certification (preferred, not required).
- Relevant post-secondary degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience with multi-year pledges, corporate investments, legacy gifts, and blended giving.
- Success in grant writing and institutional funding.
- Familiarity with philanthropic trends in the GTA, Montreal, and Ottawa.
- Ability to travel for donor meetings and events.
Work Environment:
- Hybrid work environment: In-office (Monday-Wednesday) & Remote (Thursday-Friday), flexible for in-person meetings/events.
