Compliance Specialist is responsible for monitoring assigned properties for compliance with program standards. Reviews regulatory agreements and program requirements, prepares compliance reports, collects and tracks data to monitor compliance.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Monitors compliance of assigned portfolio (housing programs vary).
- Assists with updates to UA information, rent/income limits, and annual adjustments.
- Monitors ongoing compliance with program requirements (timely certification, income updates, max rent, excess rents, set-asides, service agreements).
- Assists with proper waitlist selection, maintaining set-aside requirements, income targeting, VAWA, and EIV reporting (if applicable).
- Assists with internal FPI Manager Certification updates (with Compliance Director direction).
- Maintains positive communication with onsite staff, Portfolio Managers, and Compliance team.
- Keeps supervisor informed of work progress, problems, and suggestions.
- Updates internal tracking systems promptly.
- Provides timely responses and reports to clients and agencies.
- Assists during lease-up, acquisition, and rehab processes.
- Obtains and reviews regulatory agreements for software setup.
- Attends/monitors coverage, preparation, and responses due to audits.
- Provides compliance support to onsite staff.
- Provides compliance training to onsite staff (Compliance Director direction).
- Maintains professional appearance and follows dress code policy.
- May require overnight and air travel.
- Fairly enforces FPI Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Complies with Fair Housing Laws.
- Completes special project assignments.
- Completes all required training, including Grace Hill and safety meetings.
- Complies with all FPI policies and procedures.
- Performs duties as assigned by Regional Compliance Manager and Compliance Director.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years’ experience in affordable program compliance and/or affordable property management (LIHTC, HUD, USDA-RD, HCD, HOME, Bond).
- Strong administrative, organizational, and positive attitude.
- Analytical skills, detail-orientation, and prioritization.
- Excellent reporting skills.
- Valid driver’s license and insured vehicle.
- Proficient English speaking, reading, and writing.
Preferred:
- Affordable housing certifications (NCHM, AHMA, NAHB, NCP, etc.).
